This week, dozens of members of Congress penned a letter to Chairman Cole and Ranking Member DeLauro of the Committee on Appropriations, asking for restoration of funding for the Preschool Development Grant Program during the upcoming negotiations on FY 2016 appropriations.

Currently 18 states have made use of Preschool Development Grants, but more than 35 states have applied to the program for funding, indicating the desire and commitment to providing high-quality early learning to our country’s youngest learners.

The letter highlights that not only states and local communities have demonstrated their desire to invest in early education, but federal support is critical to ensure both access and future success. Preschool Development Grants help fulfill this need by providing funds to build and expand programs in high need communities.

We thank members of Congress for their continued bipartisan support of early education across the country.
