Last week U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) honored NBA superstar Steve Nash for his commitment to early learning in Arizona.
“While Steve is world-renowned for his fiery and flashy style of play on the basketball court, his passion for charity and his genuine desire to help others burns just as intensely. And that, to me, is what makes him such a unique individual,” McCain said in a tribute video that played during a ceremony honoring Nash’s contributions to Educare Arizona.
“It’s also because of Steve and the [Steve Nash] Foundation’s generosity that Educare was able to open the country’s thirteenth early learning school in Phoenix in 2011,” McCain continued. “Through its early learning opportunities, Educare Arizona’s impact on our state’s children represents an investment in our community, our economy and our future.”
FFYF was honored to represent the Invest in US campaign at the event Friday to help honor Nash for his longstanding commitment and dedication to early care and learning. During the event, Arizona governor Doug Ducey proclaimed Friday, October 30, 2015 would be known as Steve Nash Day throughout Arizona. Later that evening, the two time NBA MVP was inducted into the Phoenix Suns Ring of Honor.
