Cody Uhing joined First Five Years Fund as Press Secretary in 2019. He manages media outreach and press relations, and he supports the organization’s overall communications and marketing work. He brings more than seven years of professional communication experience that extends from private sector to government and political campaigns.
Prior to joining FFYF, Uhing worked on Capitol Hill, creating and executing comprehensive communications and media outreach plans as the Communications Director and Press Secretary for Representatives Tom O’Halleran and Brad Ashford. In these roles, Uhing advised the members of Congress, staff, and community stakeholders on communication strategies to elevate the work of the office and the Member in both government and campaign capacities.
Previously, Uhing was a social and digital communication consultant in Washington, DC where he supported clients focused on providing high quality educational opportunities at home and abroad.
Born and raised in the Midwest, Uhing graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with degrees in economics and political science. He now lives in Washington, DC with his cat, Anderson.
