House to Begin Conference Process on Federal Funding Package, Including ECE Programs

News September 6, 2018

The House will vote today to go to conference with the Senate on an appropriations package that includes spending allocations for the federal early learning and care programs.

Last month the Senate voted to approve important funding increases for many ECE programs, with a bipartisan vote of 85 to 7 on a funding package that included the appropriations bill from of the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (L-HHS).

Prior to that, the House had also approved increases to many early childhood programs in a vote on its own appropriations legislation.

We are grateful to the bipartisan champions in Congress who continue to prioritize the care and education of America’s children from birth through age five, and we look forward to working with lawmakers throughout the conference negotiations and beyond to sustain and grow this progress.
