FFYF Statement on Child Care in State of the Union
WASHINGTON – In response to President Biden’s second State of the Union address, First Five Years Fund (FFYF) Executive Director Sarah Rittling released the following statement:
“Child care is more than a kitchen table issue – it’s a rare cornerstone of economic policy that lawmakers from across the aisle are willing to take action on. If there’s one thing that President Biden, the House, and the Senate can agree on, it’s that the astronomical cost and ever dwindling supply of child care is holding back working families, businesses, and our economy. What’s more, our polling shows that voters across the political spectrum expect their lawmakers to work with the Biden administration to enact policies that expand affordable child care options.
“We are pleased President Biden highlighted child care and pre-K in his State of the Union tonight, but now we need the President and Members of Congress to take action. We look forward to working with the President and elected officials from both sides of the aisle to get the job done and truly help working families and our economy.”
