Action

Families across the country are struggling to find and afford the child care they need. In fact, in recent polling, 80% of Americans say the inability of working parents to find affordable child care is a “state of crisis” or a “major problem.” Families with young children need support today.

And they want Congress to take action.

When the House returns in September, it is essential for them to prioritize efforts to strengthen child care and early learning in this country.

Here are a few:

  • Pass the SEED Act, extending the existing federal tax deduction for out-of-pocket classroom expenses to include early childhood educators.
  • Support the Child Care Modernization Act, helping more families find and afford child care.
  • Protect, prioritize, and expand investments in early learning and care programs, including the Child Care and Development Block Grant, Head Start, and Preschool Development Grants.
  • Visit a local Head Start or child care site in their districts to learn more about how these essential programs support young children and their families.
