American Families To Congress: End the Shutdown

As the federal shutdown drags on with no end in sight, more families with young children are feeling the pain. As of Wednesday, 11/5/25, Head Start sites in 18 states and Puerto Rico have had to close their doors. This leaves nearly 10,000 children and families without access to the care, early learning, nutrition, and stability Head Start provides.

Child care isn’t a luxury — it’s essential. It keeps parents working, children learning, and our economy strong. Yet with Head Start grants and child care services uncertain, families face financial strain and chaos.

Tell your Members of Congress to protect Head Start by ending the shutdown and urge them to commit to swiftly reimbursing Head Start programs with their missed funding, ensuring they can quickly get back to the work of caring for children and supporting families.
